Rob’s passion revolves around helping organizations and charities become successful by raising the necessary funds through golf or other events. Rob’s passion for golf, golf events, and the philanthropic activities of charity golf events carry over into every aspect of successful Back9Promotions events.
As a member of golf’s inner circle Rob is also a member of the National Golf Foundation, USGA, Frequent Radio Show Guest and Author of the Blog Rocket’s Ramble on easterngolftv.com.
While his career started in corporate finance and banking his passion always remained in golf. Therefore in the Back 9 of his life…after 40! He founded Back 9 promotions to utilize golf and its immense fund raising capacity to help charities and other organizations achieve their mission by enjoying golf. Rob’s circle of influence includes his past corporate background and crossing it over into the ever social world of golf. Rob and Back 9 Promotions have found a niche that expands the outreach of golf within the corporate world.
Back9Promotions early heritage began with raising necessary funds for his daughter’s friend’s father, Mr. Kutsal who was suffering from Stage 4 Lung Cancer. A message went out to the school community requesting a financial contribution, restaurant gift cards or any other assistance to the family in support of his ailing health. Mr. Kutsal’s illness rendered him in a predicament few of us can imagine. The chemotherapy treatments left him nauseous and fatigued while trying to care for two young children. He was also in a financial bind, being out of work due to chemotherapy treatments and doctor appointments.
Rob understood the hardship this family was undergoing and wanted to do something to ease their suffering. Rob’s vast financial experience and involvement with the community led him to the collaboration of a golf marathon in hopes of raising $500 to help the Kutsal family.
In just a 10 short days, friends, families, local church members and countless others enabled Rob to raise over $8,000 in support of his daughter’s classmate’s family. Playing 72 holes of golf that day and the vision of joy, relief and community compassion to this family in need has created an even larger vision and personal calling to Rob. A vision and goal to help others and Back9Promotions is the culmination of that vision.
Back9Promotions is about helping others in the back 9 of life that need a mulligan. Those who need a good bounce of the ball and a sense of hope in a sometimes hopeless situation is Back9Promotions core principle.

Growing up as the son of World Golf Hall of Fame member Larry Nelson, Drew was introduced to the life of professional golf at a young age. He spent his early childhood traveling the country following his dad on the PGA Tour. As Drew grew older his attention turned to competitive golf, and by the age of 15, Drew was representing the U.S. in Japan at the inaugural Ozaki Cup. As his game progressed, so did his achievements. Drew won the Ga. High School State Championship his senior year, and turned pro shortly after. Drew competed at the PGA Tour Q-School at the young age of 19, and thus started his professional journey. Throughout his career Drew played on the Hooters Tour, Tarheel Tour, Emerald Coast Tour, as well as on the Nationwide Tour in 2007 amassing 32 victories throughout his career as well as player of the year and leading money winner honers in 2004. While keeping his focus on golf, Drew also spent time caddying and teaching. Drew has caddied on the PGA and Champions Tour, as well as teaching various professionals along the way. In 2009 Drew opened the Nelson Golf Academy, and has also been found giving lessons on both ESPN and The Golf Channel. If you asked Drew about his favorite moment in golf it would have to be his two victories at the Office Depot Father/Son Challenge with his dad. Drew Has been around golf tournaments and will be able to add a professional knowledge to our company that other organizations can’t provide.
